== History ==
The Jedi Knights served the [[Old Republic]] as its protectors. When [[Palpatine]] declared himself [[Emperor (New Order)|Emperor]], the Jedi Knights were exterminated through deception and treachery. Following their elimination, Imperial governors and bureaucrats began to institute a reign of terror upon the galaxy under the name of the Emperor.<ref name="SWn-P"/>
